About Us

Heltzel Mortgage has a long history of mortgage banking in Virginia. Originally founded in 1965 as the Robert Heltzel Company, we changed our name in 1980 to Heltzel Mortgage Corporation. For 37 years the firm operated as an independent mortgage banker before merging with Synergy One Federal Credit Union in 2001 to create Heltzel-Synergy One Mortgage.

In January 2010, Heltzel Mortgage became a subsidiary of Village Bank Mortgage Company, headquartered in Midlothian, Virginia. The two companies bring over 60 years of combined mortgage lending expertise to home buyers in Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.

Heltzel Mortgage is based in Manassas, Virginia, with an office Cockeysville, MD. We are approved to originate, underwrite and close Conventional, FHA, VA, VHDA & Rural Development loans. We also offer the Federal Home Loan Bank grant program for first time buyers. We are a mortgage lender, not a broker.
