About Us

Heltzel Mortgage has a long history of mortgage banking in Virginia. Originally founded in 1965 as the Robert Heltzel Company, we changed our name in 1980 to Heltzel Mortgage Corporation. For 37 years the firm operated as an independent mortgage banker before merging with Synergy One Federal Credit Union in 2001 to create Heltzel-Synergy One Mortgage.

Heltzel Mortgage is based in Manassas, Virginia. We are approved to originate, underwrite and close Conventional, FHA, VA, VHDA & Rural Development loans. We also offer the Federal Home Loan Bank grant program for first time buyers. We are a mortgage lender, not a broker.

What Our Clients Say…

“Heltzel Mortgage is an exceptional local business, in part because of its dedication and commitment to making the Manassas community a vibrant place to live, work and play.

Heltzel Mortgage began supporting SERVE in 1983. Over the last 29 years our partnership has evolved into one of the SERVE campus’s most trusted partnerships. Here is just a sampling of Heltzel Mortgage’s impact at SERVE:

  • Heltzel Mortgage can always be counted on to support SERVE’s annual Operation Turkey and Back to School drives by hosting collection drives in their office. Additionally, anytime the SERVE campus has an unexpected immediate need, Heltzel Mortgage staff enthusiastically collect those supplies too.
  • Heltzel Mortgage is also a longtime event sponsor for SERVE’s annual Empty Bowls and Strikes for SERVE bowlathon fundraising events. Their generous sponsorship support, as well as support from the greater Manassas community, helped the SERVE campus raise a combined total of $65,000 this year.
  • A member of the Heltzel Mortgage team served on our Board of Directors—even taking on terms of President, among other positions—for over two decades. During this time, Heltzel Mortgage played a critical role in expanding SERVE’s programs to help more people in need, supporting a capital campaign to build the facilities that comprise SERVE’s campus today, and ensuring SERVE’s long-term success and sustainability.

Heltzel Mortgage is truly dedicated to ensuring that everyone in the Manassas community has a safe place to live, enough food for their family and a wealth of supportive resources to be independent and realize brighter futures.”
