The company was founded in February 1965 by Robert “Bob” Heltzel, as a mortgage banking and real estate appraisal firm, located in Arlington Virginia.
After moving to Falls Church in 1970, the company maintained and office there and relocated the main office to Manassas, Virginia in 1972.
In 1980, the company changed its name to Heltzel Mortgage Corporation and over the next 23 years maintained the main office in Manassas as well as satellite offices in Culpeper, Charlottesville and in Cockeysville Maryland. Heltzel Mortgage was one of the first mortgage companies in the country to create an online mortgage presence and our company “Digital Mortgage” was featured in Nations Business magazine in 1982.
In 2003, Heltzel Mortgage partnered with Synergy One Federal Credit Union to create Synergy One Financials Services, which also featured the first national partnership with Nationwide Insurance to offer financial service and insurance to our customers and credit union members.
In January 2010, we changed partners to Village Bank in Midlothian Virginia, and we operated as a DBA for Village Bank Mortgage with offices in Virginia, Maryland and NC – until April 2017.
In September 2017, we changed our name back to our original name in honor of our founder, an also since we are no longer an active mortgage lender- having decided to evolve into a real estate consulting and valuation company. The principals of the company remain:
